I’m fully aware that I told you last Thursday that I would be posting the rest of my thoughts from the Lord’s Prayer teaching, but instead I’m going to finish this coming Thursday back at the campus house. Sorry the wonderful and powerful intern duo of ASquared will finally be teaching the parable of the sower during the first week in March. Stay tuned though cause I will be posting some additional thoughts soon!

“As I read today’s Word and the devotion to go along with it, a few things came to my mind, 1. We see over and over again in scripture people, who choose to follow Jesus, receiving new names, but WHY? Its because following Jesus meant to give up your own life and live for him, one verse I love to read is Gal. 2:20, it talks about how “it is no long I who life, but Christ who lives in me.”. As a man I seek and long to be called “A Man of God” (1 TIm. 6:11), as the devotion talked about, we have that opportunity to be call by a new name. Each day we should ask ourselves this question “By what name does God call me?”. The second thing that came to mind is at the end of the section Jesus talks about what they have seen, for which they believe, this caught my eye, because I know I lose sight of why I believe from time to time, but we, and I know I, need to found that hope and confront in what is to come, when Jesus spoke in verse 51.”

I’m still amazed and humbled at that thought of Jesus “moving in to the neighborhood.” At the same time it is really hard to wrap my head around. I know that people always talk about the fact that Jesus wants to know me and I want to know Him, but how does that work really, practically? There are some moments when Jesus feels as close as my skin and other times when He feels a million miles away. I so wish that today he lived just down the hall so he could answer all of my questions. Jesus, help me to know you and help me to know that you are here now and here always. Thank you for coming here to meet me!

Hopefully someone has given you a copy of a devotional book containing 80 short thoughts from the book of John. There are approximately 800 copies of this book floating around Nebraska and they are being read by college students all over the state. We thought it would be great if students started sharing their thoughts about these short devotions so we started JohnTalk. A different student will be posting a thought from their reading each day and their will be opportunities for you to comment. We are hoping for a lively discussion and an opportunity for all of us to grow in our faith and following of Jesus. If you need a devotional please respond to this post and we will get you one
